Established by a handful of individuals as an independent, non-profit, and non-governmental organization (NGO) in the year 1993, Abhinav is now a leading organization in the northern region that supports the cause of women, children and youth in India.  Abhinav works hand in hand with the Government, UN organizations, NGOs and the Corporate to provide strategic support for elevating the livelihoods of less privileged and marginalized communities.

Abhinav has wide-spread interventions in agriculture, health & hygiene, water & sanitation, and child education.  The organization also works to promote entrepreneurship for employment and self employment particularly addressing the needs of youth and women.  Our capacity to deliver quality results has attracted renowned organization such as ISRO, UNDP, World Bank, JBIC, Give India Foundation, and UNICEF to award us important projects from time to time.

Abhinav believes in sustainable agriculture and works for the promotion of efficient production of safe, high quality agricultural products, in a way that protects and improves the natural environment, the social and economic conditions of farmers, their employees and local communities, and safeguards the health and welfare of all farmed species.  Because of this, we promote the concepts of organic farming, modern, and intensive agriculture promoting which provide long-term benefits to people, communities and the environment. We help in promotion of modern farming practices and processing techniques among the farming community to achieve above objectives.  We deliver these services through our well established network and satellite based communication system.  Our wide spread training programs, exposure visits, and capacity-building for organic & agro-ecological farming methods have helped thousands of farmers in improving their farm productivity and profitability.

Access to water, sanitation, and hygiene are the basic needs of human beings.  The lack of safe drinking water is a major public health issue, and water-borne diseases can be life-threatening.  Unfortunately, over one-third of the world’s population does not have access to adequate sanitation and millions of deaths occur due to lack of safe drinking-water.   Realising the fact that sizeable and scalable difference can only be made through partnership with like-minded organizations, Abhinav has networked with several national and international bodies in fulfilling the dream of making provision of safe drinking water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene for the needy people in both rural and urban areas.   ABHINAV has successfully implemented.

We develop, pilot and improve programmes, to achieve greater scale by leveraging existing on-ground networks, to run joint advocacy programmes to raise the profile and resources given to our WASH programme, to make funding proposals, and to work together on long-term sustainability, particularly with governments and policy makers.  For example, working together to encourage hygiene education to be built into schools’ curricula, or securing investment to improve infrastructure for clean water, good sanitation and improved hygiene in schools and communities.  The organization has successfully executed 34 drinking water schemes and has built 8 nos. state-of-the-art pay n use toilets in densely populated urban localities.  Besides, we have built over 15,000 toilets for the rural population in Uttar Pradesh.

Inadequate child education In India is a matter of serious concern.  Percentage of children that never start school is 4% and those who do not complete primary schools are nearly 58%.  And 90% children don’t complete schools at all.  The fact that only 10% of our children go on to college both saddens and angers us.

Having done exhaustive research and careful consideration of the factors responsible for the state of child education, Abhinav has found out that issues of ‘social’ distance – arising out of caste, class and gender differences deny children equal opportunities, child labour in some parts of the country and resistance to sending girls to school are of real concerns.  School dropout cases have been high.  Lack of adequate water and sanitation facilities in the school adds to the woes of children, particularly the adolescent girls.  Inadequate infrastructure and quality of education is another prohibitive issue of the present day education system.

With the support of Governments, NGOs and the Corporate, Abhinav has taken up the huge task of addressing schooling issues for rural population.  The organization has helped several schools in improving their infrastructure, building water and sanitation facilities, providing modern teaching aids for quality education, and upgrading the teaching skills of the teachers.  We have conducted study tours for school children to the places of relevance including visits to various museums, monuments, historical places in the national capital New Delhi.

Skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development for any country. Those with better levels of skills adjust more effectively to the challenges and opportunities of world of work.  Abhinav works for the promotion of self employment and wage employment through well defined educational and training interventions.  Abhinav has played active roles in promotion of entrepreneurship and social development and has successfully organized large number of training programs, seminars, workshops and on the job training sessions for the rural community.  Organization has trained hundreds of women for entrepreneurship to help them run their own businesses and making them self – reliant, linking their SHG groups to the banks.

To pursue interests in food processing sector, Abhinav has established a ‘Food Processing & Training Centre’ with the help of Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) at Muzaffarnagar.  Thousands of youngsters have undergone job oriented trainings at this centre and established themselves in the job markets or started their own businesses. Abhinav is an ISO 9001:2008 & ISO 14001:2005 certified organization.
